One of the most important feasts for San Fratello is that of the co-patron San Benedetto il Moro.

He was born in San Fratello in 1526 to two slaves who came from Africa, forced to live a working life in the fields since he was a child. He became part of the Franciscan community and then si moved su Monte Pilgrim in Palermo.
More later he joined the minor friars of the convent of S. Maria di Gesù of the capital,
where he lived with ferma holiness until his death on April 4, 1589.
After his death, canonization processes were initiated, the beatification took place in the mid-18th century, his canonization in 1807.
The Feast of San Benedetto il Moro takes place on 16 and 17 September. On the 16th the statue of the Saint is carried in procession through the streets of the "Madonna delle Grazie" and "Porta Sottana" districts, while the following day through the remaining streets decorated with lit lights.
The festival attracts more and more tourists every year from every corner of Sicily and beyond.
At the end of the procession there are fireworks displays and a musical show.
